Why Soapstone?

Soapstone has no equal when comparing components for a stove. Formed millions of years ago under intense heat and pressure, soapstone is a metamorphic rock that is able to withstand intense fire and dramatic temperature change.

What is more, soapstone possesses extraordinary heat retention properties that surpass other materials. When you build a fire in your soapstone stove, the soapstone absorbs massive amounts of heat from the fire, then radiates it back into your room. Inside, the stove directly absorbs the high heat of the fire, while outside, it radiates heat into the room from its surface.

The soapstone stays warm for hours, continuing to warm your home with an even, gentle heat, long after the fire cools. That is why it is the ideal material for overnight heating or for other long stretches of time when you can't tend the fire. And stone endures, so you can save money on materials over the long run.

Our soapstone stoves use a combination of stone plus cast iron that gives you the inmediate radiant heat of cast iron, something to curl up to, while the natural stone slowly releases its gentle, stored heat over time.
