Biomass Stove Tax Credit

The Biomass Stove Tax Credit is a federal incentive for consumers to invest in cleaner, more efficient biomass-fueled heating technology. To qualify, appliances must meet or exceed an energy efficiency rating of 75%.

It is a $300 dollar-for-dollar, non-refundable, tax credit for purchasing a qualifying biomass-burning stove before December 31, 2020. Biomass simply means the stove uses wood or pellet fuel.

The tax credit may be claimed on 2018, 2019, and 2020 returns if a qualifying purchase was made in those tax years.
