Heating with Wood

Solid fuel, specifically wood is the most basic, renewable, Carbon Neutral energy source available.

Wood is a renewable and sustainable resource that supports local communities. Heating with wood has a carbon-neutral footprint when burned in a highly efficient HearthStone TruHybrid™ product. All of our wood-burning products exceed 2020 EPA standards so you can be sure they burn clean today and for many years to come.

Trees are the most powerful concentrators of carbon on Earth. Through photosynthesis, trees convert the sun’s energy and CO2 into wood. Trees are the only abundant, biodegradable, and renewable global resource. Many other “biofuels” require high energy processing, transportation, and packaging.

When wood is burned, the carbon contained in the wood is released back to the atmosphere. There is no additional carbon released from burning than would be released from the tree decomposing in the forest. Burning oil, natural gas or propane releases sequestered carbon from generations past. It will not be replaced in our lifetimes.

Solid-fuel heat is a viable alternative to fossil fuels.

Using more solid fuel products to heat our homes sends a signal to manage our forests for the future.
